I’m a day late, but happy new year!
I thought I’d start the new year by looking back over the year and seeing how I did with my New Years resolutions. These are the things I wanted to get done in 2019:
♢ Finish my next writing project
I started the year with an idea and ended it with a rough draft of a story – I can’t say it’s a great piece of literature, but it’s an accomplishment.
♢ Write 52 blog posts ♢ Be able to sing and play guitar at the same time
As long as it’s not too complicated a song!
♢ Reach this year’s savings goal ♢ Read at least 12 books
Learn another programming language or framework and update my portfolio
I wrote a video streaming app in React! I didn’t manage to host it and update my portfolio though, so this one is half done…
♢ To keep my room free of clutter
I’m crossing this off as I did spend a lot of time clearing out my old bedroom at my parents’ and my flat, and I’ve managed to give a lot of things away to charity – as to the clutter, I think there’s still more I can do to work on that.
♢ Travel to 4 places I’ve not been to before ♢ Cook more & try more recipes ♢ Improve my Italian speaking and writing skills
I fell a little behind on this towards the end of the year so I joined a course in November and was able to brush up on my vocabulary and speaking skills that way.
Overall it’s been a really wonderful year. I feel like I spent a good amount time meeting friends, travelling, reading, writing, and working, as I did focusing on my personal goals. I read 13 books, reached my savings goal, wrote 54 blog posts, and visited Athlone, York, Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga, Edinburgh, and Budapest over the course of the year.
Some goals I can confidently say I’ve achieved, while others I’m a little more hesitant, hence some of the notes I’ve added on. But I’m happy to say I’ve reached the end of the year feeling like I’ve achieved everything I set out to do.
Here’s to what will hopefully be another productive and fun-filled year! Happy new year ♥
