2019 Goals | 6 Months Later

It’s mad how quickly this year is going!

We’re halfway through 2019 already, so I thought it would be a good idea to revisit the plans I made at the beginning of the year, and gage whether I’m on track or not!

This is where I’m currently at with my 2019 goals:

♢ Finish my next writing project
I need to get out of the plot/write cycle I seem to be stuck in, as its preventing me from progressing, so I’ll need to give this more focus over the next few months.

♢ Write 52 blog posts
I’m just about on track with this with 26 blog posts written!

♢ Be able to sing and play guitar at the same time
I’ve been playing a lot these past few months, and according to my friend who I often play with, I’ve improved a lot with on my timing and .

♢ Save up at least £7000 over the year
I’ve saved around £4900, so I’m over halfway there.

♢ Read at least 12 books
Between March and June, I read Rebel of the Sand by Alwyn Hamilton & Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas, To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo. I’ve read 6 books this year so I am on track, although I would love for that number to be higher!

♢ Learn another programming language or framework and update my portfolio
I managed to write a working app in ReactJS earlier this year, so while I’d like to learn more, I’m happy to say I’m on track with this (while I focus on other things – for the time being).

♢ To keep my room free of clutter
I’ve surprisingly managed to keep on top of this! I’ve cleared out my bedroom at my parents’ house, I’ve also managed to declutter my room at my flat.

♢ Travel to 4 places I’ve not been to before
I had a gorgeous trip in May to Spain (I visited Seville, Cordoba, Granada and Malaga, so technically)! So technically, that’s 6 new places I’ve visited this year ♥

♢ Cook more & try more recipes
I’ve generally been making quite simple recipes, mostly for lunches to take to work. I’d quite like to try some baking too, so maybe I’ll add that to my to do list for the upcoming months?

♢ Improve my Italian speaking and writing skills
I’ve downloaded the HelloTalk app, which allows you to speak to natives of the language you’re trying to learn, but I haven’t started talking yet.

How on track am I and do I need to make any amendments?

I need to focus a bit more on writing and my Italian sentence forming goals a lot more. I’ll still keep an eye on everything because even though I’m on track for them, I don’t want to let them slip through the net.

So things I’d like to achieve between July and September:

  • Start talking on the HelloTalk app and improve my Italian speaking skills (and help others with their English!)
  • Take part in July’s Camp NaNoWriMo and write a full draft of my WIP
  • Reacquaint myself with Object Oriented programming to improve myself at work
  • Aim to have saved up £6200 overall
  • Read 3 more books
  • Write 39 blog posts overall
  • Start playing guitar with other people again
  • Clear out my wardrobe debris
  • Try a new recipe a month, and try baking something

Here’s to what will hopefully be a productive next 3 months! I’ll have these written on a post-it so I can continue to keep an eye on them…

How is your year going so far?
