Happy new year! I hope you’ve all had a lovely start to 2019, and that you have lots to look forward to this year.
2018 turned out to be a pretty productive year for me. I set 10 goals at the start of last year, and although I was inwardly quite skeptical that I’d achieve any of them, when I reviewed them at the end of the year, I had 9 out of 10 of them ticked off.
In 12 months, I managed to: write 50,000 words of a story that’s been stuck in my head for months; became a more confident guitar player by playing every day; improved my Italian reading comprehension; got my teeth straightened up by wearing retainers every day, wrote 3 small programs in coding languages and frameworks that I wasn’t previously familiar with; travelled to 6 places outside of the UK; saved up £5000.
This year I’m going to do the same thing and set myself another list of 10 goals for 2019.
My goals for 2019 are to:
♢ Finish my next writing project
♢ Write 52 blog posts
♢ Be able to sing and play guitar at the same time
♢ Save up at least £7000 over the year
♢ Read at least 12 books
♢ Learn another programming language or framework and update my portfolio
♢ To keep my room free of clutter
♢ Travel to 4 places I’ve not been to before
♢ Cook more & try more recipes
♢ Improve my Italian speaking and writing skills
My number one aim is to not pressure myself. If I come out of the end of next year without having achieved any of these, I don’t want to get myself down over it. You never know what the coming year will bring, so most of all, I want to focus on living my life and doing what makes me happy: and if that happens to include a list of achievements, then all the better!
Those are my new years resolutions for 2019! What are you hoping to do this year?
