October Goals

Hello and happy Sunday!

It’s the first Sunday of October, and although it’s a little late, I thought I’d post my goals for the month ahead. I’m continuing with this new blog posting structure of doing my lifestyle-ish posts on Sundays as I seem to be posting a lot more regularly!

I had a lot of goals for September, but I surprisingly managed to get most of them done despite being away in Budapest for a week:

♢ Downsize the clutter on top of my wardrobe
♢ Play guitar at least every other day, find some good practice techniques to make sure I’m pushing myself each time I play
♢ Set up Adobe Illustrator free trial on my laptop and play around with it
♢ Add my React app from last month to Github account
♢ Blog fortnightly and aim to write posts in advance
♢ Get back into batch cooking
♢ Draw or paint something
Have a safe and fun visit to Budapest
♢ 5 Duolingo Italian modules
Read Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman
Declutter desk and other surfaces areas in my room
Write 42k words on current work in progress
I got to 39k, which isn’t too bad…
Start the Guitar Crash Course I found on Udemy!
I didn’t even start this! By the time I remembered, it was a couple of days before Budapest and I just didn’t have the time unfortunately 😦
Build a React app with NodeJs
I got halfway through the app, but didn’t get as far as I’d planned to

I added a drawing goal last month and ended up drawing a little hummingbird in pen! I quite liked it so thought I’d share it as part of my post:

October Goals

I’ve had a quick look at my 2018 goals and decided to try and complete the following for this month:

WIP aim for 45k
WIP comb through plot outline and finalise scene orders
Blog weekly
Finish online guitar course
Finish off React and Node project
Update portfolio with current skillset
Play guitar every day (when I’m not away)
6 Duolingo Italian modules
Figure out what to do with my remaining annual holiday
Draw or paint something
Clear out my bookshelf
Downsize the things in my ‘art’ drawers
Declutter some things in ottoman
Read Stormbird by Conn Iggulden

Fingers crossed I manage to cross most of these off! I know it’s a bit ambitious, but I have the best intentions 🙂

  1. OooH! Goals! Fun! haha. Good luck – you have a lot of aspirations, but they sound like fun. My main goal for October is to finish the last round of my revisions and begin curating a list of agents I want to send to :O

    1. That’s a great goal to have Trish, and to be honest, I should try to narrow down my own goals a bit more to a few main goals – I just find throughout the month that I keep adding more and more things I want to get done and it all adds up to one giant to do list! Every month it gets longer and longer…

I hope you manage to reach your goal Trish, I’d love to hear how you get on with your revisions! I still feel a million miles away from that point, I’m so jealous ♥

      1. Ashleigh, yes, I have had to learn to narrow down my goals so that I could prioritize the ones that really matter. But it was hard and took a long time. There are a lot of things I’m interested in and would love to do, but ultimately, writing matters the most to me, so I chose to focus mostly on that. And it took me a long time to get to revisions! Drafting is a bit of a slog. It just takes a long time, but I hope that you’re enjoying the process, and good luck with the rest of your goals!
